Mother's Day

Dear Mr. Hallmark,

I am writing to you from heaven,
and though it must appear

A rather strange idea,
I see everything from here.

I just popped in to visit,
your stores to find a card

A card of love for my mother,
as this day for her is hard.

There must be some mistake I thought,
There was every card you could imagine

Except I could not find a card,
from a child who lives in heaven.

She is still a mother too,
no matter where I reside

I had to leave, she understands,
but oh the tears she's cried.

I thought that if I wrote you,
that you would come to know

That though I live in heaven now,
I still love my mother so.

She talks with me, and dreams with me;
we still share laughter too,

Memories is our way of speaking now,
would you see what you could do?

My mother carries me in her heart,
her tears she hides from sight.

She writes poems to honor me,
sometimes far into the night

She plants flowers in my garden,
there my living memory dwells

She writes to other grieving parents,
trying to ease their pain as well.

So you see Mr. Hallmark,
though I no longer live on earth

I must find a way,
to remind her of her wondrous worth

She needs to be honored,
and remembered too

Just as the children of earth will do.

Thank you Mr. Hallmark,
I know you'll do your best

I have done all I can do;
to you I'll leave the rest.

Find a way to tell her,
how much she means to me

Until I can do it for myself,
when she joins me in eternity.

Remember Me Always

Remember me always
as I will never forget you
I know you loved me
and I loved you too

Remember me always
as I fly close and near
as your angel baby
there to catch every tear

Remember me always
tucked safe in your heart
through the happy moments too
we will never be apart

Remember me always
and know I don't blame you
you did everything out of love
I would have done the same for you

Remember me always
as inside of your I lay
I love you mommy and daddy
in your hearts I will forever stay

Like A Rose

Like a Rose

you started as a tiny seed
tucked away safe and warm
slowly you sprouted
slowly you grew
inching your way towards the light
towards existence
towards the world

still to delicate for the world
you emerged, perfect
a delicate bud
requiring love and special care
you struggled to live
to survive
to be

opening your petals
for one brief moment
you shared with the world
your sweetness
your love
your beauty

then slowly your faded away
wilting before our eyes
slipping from us
you drifted from existence
still beautiful
still perfect

leaving a sweet fragrance
a memory for us to hold
to cherish
to remember

Her Journey's Just Begun

I do read the cards people send and many have great, nice messages...but this one seemed very fitting so I wanted to share the poem on the card with you all :)

Her Journey's Just Begun

Don't think of her as gone away-
her journey's just begun...
life holds so many faucets-
this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think of how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost-
and she was loved so much.
E. Brenneman

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Henry
not only for the beautiful card but also for the money :)

I am a mommy too

I am a mommy, too

My baby you cannot see
I never took her home with me
Her nursery she never saw
but I am still a "ma"

My baby I cannot hold
or bundle her against the cold
I cannot brush her curly hair
But I am still a "mere"

My baby I cannot touch
or will my finger she ever clutch
I cannot dress her in blue
but I am a mommy too

My baby, to early from the womb
left this world much too soon
My baby angel, my heart does miss
As I am missing motherhood's bliss

For I am a mommy too...
to a baby born much too soon.

(I write poetry when I get depressed...it helps to work through it...so I wouldn't expect this to be the last of the poems you see posted.)
